Timber and teabags flavour the Tuesday morning as the ‘Southsea Men’s Shed’ enjoy a bit of camaraderie while serving the local community.
The Shed is a larger version of the typical man’s shed in the garden, a place where he feels at home.
The Shed offers this to a group of retired men, ex-service men, and men in rehabilitation, where members share the tools and resources they need to work on projects at their own pace and in a safe, friendly and inclusive venue. They are places of skill-sharing and informal learning, of individual pursuits and community projects, of purpose, achievement and social interaction. A place of leisure where men and women can come together to work.
Our Men’s Shed takes place across two rooms at the accessible Spirit in Sport site, including the Men’s Shed workshop; a bright space equipped with the full range of workshop machinery, and Room One; a fresh and peaceful social space for conversation a cup of tea and cake.
When? Every Tuesday 9:30-12:30
How much? £2.
Recent beneficiaries of Southsea Men’s Shed include Immanuel Baptist Church, Madani Academy and Spirit in Sport’s very own ‘Careers Cafe’.
So I perceived that nothing is better than that a man should rejoice in his own works, for that is his heritage.
For who can bring him to see what will happen after him?
